Internship at the Centre for Chronobiology

MD-PhD position (f/m/d, 100%, for 3 years) from September 1, 2022 or by arrangement

The Integrative Human Circadian Daylight Platform (iHCDP) ( is a joint project between the Center for Chronobiology at the University of Basel (Prof. Dr. Christian Cajochen, Dr. Mirjam Münch, Dr. med. Corrado Garbazza ) and the Technical University of Munich (Prof. Dr. Manuel Spitschan), funded by the VELUX Foundation (Switzerland). The aim of the platform is to generate new knowledge at the interface between chronobiology, daylight research, ophthalmology and gerontology.

Participate in the design, conduct, and analysis of a randomized controlled trial on the effects of daylight on mood, sleep-wake cycles, and performance in adult patients with depression.
Searched profile
− Completed medical studies
− Excellent knowledge of German (at least C1 level for non-native speakers) and English language
− Interest and/or previous experience in clinical research
− Ability to work in a team and flexibility
− Sensitive and clear communication with psychiatric patients and scientists of other disciplines (e.g. data science)
− Additional knowledge of statistics and data analysis appreciated

This position is academically affiliated with the Research Platform Molecular and Cognitive Neurosciences of the University of Basel and with the University of Basel upon enrollment in the MD-PhD program Health Sciences (PPHS) ( You will work in a varied, stimulating and highly dynamic environment. The salary is based on the level stipulated by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) for doctoral students.
